About this tool
How to use it
- Upload a high-resolution 512×512 PNG, SVG, or JPG master logo, or select a sample brand glyph.
- Select background fill color and corner radius style (Full-bleed square, iOS squircle, or Android circle).
- Preview live desktop browser tab rendering and mobile home screen app icons.
- Click 'Download Icon Package' to export multi-resolution PNGs (16×16, 32×32, 180×180, 192×192, 512×512).
- Copy and paste the production HTML `<head>` snippet into your website template.
Why it matters
Modern web browsers and mobile operating systems require multiple icon resolutions to display branding crisply across different contexts: 16×16 for standard desktop tabs, 32×32 for high-DPI Retina screens, 180×180 for iOS home screen bookmarks, and 192×192/512×512 for Android Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). Manually creating and exporting each dimension in graphics software is slow and repetitive. This client-side tool automates generation of all required assets in seconds with zero data upload.
When to use it
Use this generator when launching a new website, redesigning your brand identity, converting a web application into a Progressive Web App (PWA), or replacing pixelated browser tabs.
Good to know
Alpha Transparency & PWA: Icons are generated as lossless 32-bit PNGs with complete alpha transparency preservation, compatible with light and dark browser themes.
Common questions
Why do I need multiple favicon sizes?
Different devices and contexts require specific pixel resolutions. If only a tiny 16×16 icon is provided, mobile phones will display a blurry, pixelated bookmark. Supplying standard 16, 32, 180, and 192px sizes guarantees crisp rendering everywhere.
What is the `apple-touch-icon.png`?
Apple Touch Icon is a 180×180 px PNG used by iOS Safari when a user taps 'Add to Home Screen'. iOS automatically applies smooth rounded squircle corners, so provide a square image without pre-rounded corners.
Where do I put the downloaded favicon files?
Place the exported PNG files directly in your website's root directory (e.g. `/favicon-32x32.png`) and paste the HTML link snippet into your `<head>` tag.
Is the legacy `.ico` format still required?
All modern browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) natively support PNG favicons (`<link rel="icon" type="image/png">`). The old multi-layer `.ico` format is only needed for legacy Internet Explorer 11 support.
What is the ideal master image size to upload?
A high-resolution 512×512 px square PNG with a transparent background or vector SVG produces the sharpest downscaled icons across all resolutions.
