Why it matters
['Finals week creates high academic anxiety where students struggle to calculate exactly what raw score is needed to pass or retain honors scholarships.', 'Professors apply different curving models (Square Root Curve, Top-Score Anchor, or Bell Curve); this tool models exact post-curve grades instantly.', 'Understanding your weighted GPA progression prevents unnecessary panic and clarifies study prioritization across different subjects.']
When to use it
['Before midterm and final exam periods to determine which courses require the most intensive study time.', 'When syllabus grade weighting changes or when an instructor announces a curve after a difficult midterm.', 'During academic planning and course registration to predict graduation honors or scholarship GPA thresholds.']
Common questions
How does the 'What Do I Need on the Final' formula work?
The formula calculates: Required Score = [Target Grade - (Current Grade * (1 - Final Weight))] / Final Weight. For example, with an 85% average and a 30% final, securing an A (90%) requires [90 - (85 * 0.70)] / 0.30 = 101.7%.
What is the Square Root Curve method?
Commonly used in university STEM courses, the square root curve takes the square root of your raw score and multiplies it by 10 (Curved = √Raw * 10). It proportionally benefits lower scores more: a 49% becomes a 70%, while an 81% becomes a 90%.
How does this GPA predictor handle 4.0 scale honors?
It uses the standard collegiate 4.0 grading scale: A (4.0), A- (3.7), B+ (3.3), B (3.0), B- (2.7), C+ (2.3), C (2.0), C- (1.7), D+ (1.3), D (1.0), and F (0.0), weighting each course by credit hours.
Is my grade or transcript data stored?
No. All computations run 100% client-side in your local browser memory with zero tracking and zero server logging.
