Counting down to January 1, 2027, 12:00 AM
The countdown updates live in this browser tab every second while the page stays open. It doesn't send a notification or alert when the target time arrives — check back on the page to see it.
About this tool
How to use it
- Name your milestone or event in the first field.
- Pick the target date and time, or tap a quick-set chip to jump ahead by a fixed amount from right now.
- Press Start Countdown, or just change either field — the timer starts (or restarts) from the new target.
- Watch the four numbers (days, hours, minutes, seconds) tick down live while the page stays open.
Why it matters
A single date on a calendar doesn't convey how close or far away something actually feels the way a live ticking countdown does — watching the numbers move creates a concrete sense of the wait that a static 'March 3rd' doesn't. It's also just useful for a quick, no-setup way to see exactly how much time is left before something happens.
When to use it
Useful for counting down to a launch, deadline, wedding, trip, or any milestone with a specific date and time, or for a quick 'how long until' check for something happening soon (a meeting, a stream going live, a sale ending).
Good to know
The countdown runs entirely in this browser tab and updates every second while the page is open — it does not send a notification, alert, or reminder when the target time arrives, and it does not keep running if you close the tab. If the target date/time you enter has already passed, the tool switches to showing how long ago it happened instead of a countdown.
Common questions
Will I get a notification when the countdown reaches zero?
No — this tool only displays a live-updating number on the page while it's open in your browser. It doesn't send push notifications, emails, or alarms, so you'd need to have the tab open and visible to see the moment it reaches zero.
What happens if I set a date in the past?
The tool detects that the target has already passed and switches from a countdown to an elapsed-time display, showing how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds have gone by since that moment instead.
Does the countdown account for time zones?
The target date and time you enter is treated in your browser's local time zone, and the countdown compares it against your device's current local time — there's no separate time zone selector, so make sure to enter the target time in your own local time zone.
Can I set more than one countdown at a time?
Not on this page — it tracks a single milestone at once. Starting a new countdown (a new name and target) replaces the one currently running.
